Save Our Shores Education Program Receives $123,590 grant from California Natural Resources Agency’s Youth Community Access (YCA) Grant Program
October 15, 2025
We are thrilled to announce that Save Our Shores has been awarded a $20,000 grant from the California Coastal Commission to support and expand our Adopt-A-Beach Program across Santa Cruz and Monterey counties.
Save Our Shores engages thousands of volunteers each year through beach cleanups and coastal stewardship programs that protect and care for California’s shoreline. This new funding will allow us to strengthen the Adopt-A-Beach Program by increasing volunteer recruitment, expanding access to reusable cleanup supplies, enhancing training and stewardship support, and elevating recognition for participating schools, businesses, and community organizations. With this investment, we can deepen community engagement and inspire even more people to take an active role in protecting our coast.
About Whale Tale
This project is made possible through the Whale Tail Program, which supports both marine and coastal education, stewardship, and conservation efforts across California. Funding comes from the sale of their iconic specialty license plate issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and the donations to the Protect Our Coast and Oceans Fund.
Save Our Shores is proud to recognize the California Coastal Commission’s Whale Tail Grants Program for their support in caring for our coast.
